About the Role
The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team of health professionals providing excellent clinical services in Neonatology.
The role will provide an interesting range of clinical, teaching and research opportunities. The successful applicant will participate in the on-call roster pro rata to the FTE.
Purpose of the Position
This role will provide specialist clinical management of infants at birth in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, postnatal ward and outpatient follow up. You will participate in high-risk pregnancy consultation.
You will provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD
This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Recognised specialist qualification and Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), Paediatrics and Child Health Division, Neonatal Perinatal specialist recognition or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.

- Sound clinical knowledge in Neonatology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position, preferably with experience as consultant neonatologist in a level 5 or 6 neonatal intensive care unit, including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Neonatology Consultant including experience in neonatal neuro-developmental follow up.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established.
- Evidence of either certification or level expertise to independently perform clinician performed ultrasound of heart and brain in neonates
