Provide contemporary comprehensive Specialist Psychiatry services at the primary facility and other facilities where applicable for optimal patient outcomes delivering a healthy community through quality care.
 
Provide clinical leadership, participate in quality improvement activities and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

Where you'll be working

Northern NSW Local Health District Mental Health Services care for adults, adolescents and children and work with patients and their families or carers to determine what options are available to assist with recovery.   There is one Sub-Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Byron Bay located at Byron Central Hospital.  Byron Central Hospital is located in the Byron Shire, an area of great beauty including some of Australia's most famous surf breaks adn holiday destinations while the hinterland is rich wtih vibrant communities and mouth-watering local produce.

Selection Criteria

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Psychiatry at the role delineation of the service.
  3. Accredited Psychotherapy Supervisor or willingness to work towards same.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
