The Tuberculosis (TB) Service is seeking an experienced TB Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 to coordinate and deliver high quality nursing care to patients in the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) region. The position is temporary part time, 3 days per week.

Where you'll be working

This role supports 3 busy clinics at Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and at Mona Vale Community Health Centre. The CNS 2 – TB provides clinical assessment and screening for tuberculosis, assistance in contact screening and management of latent and active treatment of tuberculosis patients. The Clinical Nurse Specialist is support by an experienced and dedicated team throughout the district however a high level of autonomy and nursing experience is required. 

What you'll be doing

The purpose of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position is to provide senior nursing clinical leadership in the development of specialist clinical practice and service deliver within a nursing unit, ream or service.  The CNS employs advanced clinical skills and exercises extended autonomy of decision-making working closely with managers and other senior clinicians. The CNS Grade 2 Tuberculosis reports to the Nurse Manager TB Services and is part of a small team providing nursing care and guidance in the treatment and assessment of Tuberculosis (TB).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) with relevant post registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualifications or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in respiratory nursing or Tuberculosis management.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
  4. Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
  5. Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and databases.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Current NSW Driver Licence.
