About the role

The Travel Operations Officer provides high level specialist and operational expertise to support the effective day to day management of travel across the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Health Support Services Group (HSSG). The role is responsible for overseeing travel systems, providing expert advice to stakeholders, resolving complex travel related issues, and ensuring compliance with travel policies, governance requirements, and risk frameworks. The position enhances organisational capability by monitoring and analysing travel data, identifying trends and improvement opportunities, and supporting initiatives that drive efficiency, value for money, and continuous improvement in travel management practices.

Crown Clerk 7/8, starting salary from : $113,574- $125,720 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you'll be doing 

  • Provide high level advice on travel policy interpretation, risk management, and opportunities to enhance efficiency, compliance, and value for money across MoH and HSSG. 
  • Oversee the configuration and optimisation of travel systems, ensuring data integrity, effective workflows, and system functionality that supports strategic reporting and compliance monitoring.
  • Analyse travel trends, expenditure patterns, and compliance data to identify systemic issues, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement, and prepare insights for senior management. 
  • Manage complex or escalated travel matters, ensuring appropriate risk assessment, resolution, and escalation in line with organisational policies and legislative requirements. Role description | Travel Operations Officer 2 
  • Contribute to strategic projects and policy development, providing subject matter expertise to support system enhancements, procurement activities, policy reviews, and organisational change initiatives. Key challenges 
  • Developing effective working relationships with other branches in the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and other stakeholder representatives which have different and diverse needs and viewpoints. 
 

About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience interpreting and applying travel, financial, or administrative policies.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, trends, and process improvement opportunities. 
  • Experience with travel systems, stakeholder engagement, and managing complex issues in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
