About the Opportunity:

As a Surveillance Officer – Infectious Diseases, you’ll be at the forefront of disease monitoring, response, and prevention. Working within the Public Health Unit, you will investigate notifiable conditions, support outbreak management, and ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting. You’ll work closely with clinicians, laboratories, and other health agencies to help reduce the impact of communicable diseases in our communities.

As a Surveillance Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Conduct timely investigations of notifiable infectious diseases, ensuring accurate case documentation and follow-up in line with relevant public health guidelines.

  • Support outbreak response activities, including contact tracing, data analysis, stakeholder coordination, and public health interventions.

  • Maintain and update surveillance systems, ensuring high-quality data entry, reporting accuracy, and compliance with legislation and policy.

  • Contribute to health promotion and risk communication, including the development of public information materials and supporting awareness campaigns.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of communicable diseases and control strategies

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Valid drivers licence (essential for travel within the LHD)
