What you'll be doing 
As a Sterilisation Technician, you will be responsible for the reprocessing, sterilisation and distribution of reusable medical devices and equipment to support safe patient care. You will work closely with clinical teams to ensure instruments are processed, documented and delivered in accordance with Australian Standards, infection control requirements and departmental procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

·         Collecting, cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging and sterilising reusable medical devices and instrument sets

·         Operating and monitoring sterilising equipment including washer disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, steam and plasma sterilisers, and heat sealers

·         Maintaining accurate documentation and quality assurance records in compliance with AS/NZS 4187 and departmental requirements

·         Prioritising workloads to meet changing clinical demands and urgent processing requirements while providing excellent customer service

·         Participating in mandatory education, competency assessments, quality improvement initiatives and workplace health and safety activities

Essential Criteria:

·         Qualifications: Sterilisation Services Certificate III 

Selection Criteria: 

1.     Certificate in sterilising services and experience in working in a Hospital Sterilising services department one year or more

2.     Sound understanding and Knowledge of infection Control requirements , Standards AS/NZ 4187 and ISO in a health care setting

3.     Demonstrated communication skills – including Verbal, Written and interpersonal abilities

4.     Ability to work collaboratively within a team and busy environment with changing priorities and work demands

5.     Knowledge and understanding of WH&S legislation and Manual handling techniques to maintain safety in the workplace

6.     Physically capable of performing all duties-including chemical handling, Biological hazards, Standing for long periods, lifting pushing and pulling loads
