The Role

To lead, guide and manage the Occupational Therapy Acute Services and implement high levels of clinical expertise in order to provide high quality Occupational Therapy care to clients of St George Hospital consistent with NSW Health and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.
 
This position has management, education and clinical elements, which support the overall management of the Occupational Therapy Department, as well as directing the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across the acute care services including (but not limited to) neurology, trauma, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, general medical, haematology and oncology services.

Selection Criteria

  1. Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Professionals (State) Award, current registration with AHPRA (where applicable) and commitment to own ongoing professional development.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Acute Services, including (but not limited to) neurology, trauma, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, general medical, haematology and oncology.
  3. Demonstrated excellent leadership ability, supervisory and management skills and experience.
  4. Excellent communication skills both written and oral including the ability to provide consultancy regarding Occupational therapy matters and to produce reports and other documents for use at an executive level.
  5. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels.
  6. Ability to set strategic service goals, develop and implement policy, and lead service improvement through research and continuous quality improvement.
  7. Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and to apply advanced clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  8. Class C Driver Licence.
