Southern NSWLHD comprises of four Networks - Tablelands is centred around Goulburn, Monaro centred around Queanbeyan and Cooma, the Coastal Network located in the far south-east corner of NSW, and the Integrated Care Network.
Where you'll be working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Physician with interest or skills and formal training Geriatric Medicine and/or and Rehabilitation Medicine. to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital in the Bega Valley, part of the Coastal Network.
South East Regional Hospital opened its doors in 2016 and boasts beautiful country side views which are aesthetically pleasing for any work environment. South East Regional Hospital offers an emergency department, medical and surgical inpatient beds, a level 3 maternity service, level 3 paediatric unit, an Intensive Care Unit with 24-hour consultant and registrar cover, 3 operating theatres including day surgery, with significant community-based services including renal dialysis services and outpatient cancer medicine services. South East Regional Hospital also offers an inpatient mental health unit and sub-acute rehabilitation unit. We also have a state-of-the-art standalone medical simulation centre.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Director of Medical Services, you will play an important role in providing Specialist Geriatric Medical and rehabilitation services.
We have a 20 bed SARU (sub-acute rehabilitation unit) that is purpose-built and in need of a medical lead. You will also be part of the general medicine on call team and provide ortho –geriatric support to our busy orthopaedic service.
The position also provides comprehensive consultative geriatric services and is involved in the educational activities of the Department of medicine and supervision of advanced trainees to develop a top-class education framework for medical students, junior doctors and rotating registrars and research initiatives.
South East Regional Hospital receives rotating Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) from the Canberra Hospital and is accredited to receive registrars from RACP, RACS, AOA, RANZCOG, RACGP, ACEM, ACRRM.
This role will be undertaken within an approved scope of practice and within the SNSWLHD in conjunction with other existing local Physicians.

South East Regional Hospital is in Bega - 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW snow fields and 20 minutes from the coast. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55-minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne.

Selection Criteria Essential:
A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Geriatric or Rehabilitation Medicine).
Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Geriatric and or Rehabilitation Medicine.
Evidence of being a scholar, maintaining medical professional development and the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings..
