An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital a Level 4 Health Facility based in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.

Where you’ll be working

Bega - 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. With a range of quality private and public schools in the area, younger generations are also be well looked after, growing up with fantastic friendly country folk, and a huge range of outdoor activities for your enjoyment with no long commutes to work .

Your Opportunity:

  • Provide best practice evidence based clinical services to achieve quality patient outcomes.

  • Undertake supervision and education within the clinical environment of junior medical staff and other relevant staff to foster safe clinical practice.

  • Utilise information systems to enable informed decision making and care planning.

  • Communicate with staff and clinicians to ensure quality and continuity of care.

  • Actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices. Comply with relevant legislation and regulations, NSW Ministry of Health policies and SNSWLHD procedures to assist in meeting Activity Based Funding, Commonwealth and State targets.

     

Selection Criteria:

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon.
  2. Demonstrated recent Clinical experience in Orthopaedics, including trauma, joint replacement, management of acute orthopaedic diagnoses. 
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
