The Nursing and Midwifery – Our Strategy for Transforming Person Centred Cultures 2024-2029 guides our profession in the development of effective person-centred practice and healthful cultures within SESLHD. We advocate for shared decision-making, collaborative relationships, compassionate and person-centred leadership, and supporting innovative practices.
 
As a CNC3 within SESLHD you will plan and consult with stakeholders, including the SESLHD HIV and Related Programs Unit (HARPU) Manager, MoH and other SESLHD SHBBV services on several internal programs and services including statewide My Check, NSW Partner Notification Service (PNS), NSW Syphilis Support Program, and SHIL’s Amazon Connect business service integration. The CNC3 role exists to provide complex preventative health and contact tracing, disease management for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs), including Syphilis treatment advice to inexperienced general practitioners (GPs) and Aboriginal health services across NSW.
 
The CNC3 provides leadership across a range of statewide Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus (SHBBV) clinical groups and organisations. The CNC3 provides reviews of clinical practice documents as required for Population and Community Health (PaCH), CPH and for SHBBV organisations on request, such as Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM). The CNC3 represents SHIL within SESLHD in clinical service and consultancy matters, clinical leadership, research, education and clinical services planning and management. Clinical service representation will also extend to other health environments, including service provision to NSW Sexually Transmissible Infections Programs Unit (STIPU), Centre for Population Health (CPH), Ministry of Health (MoH) and to general practice and sexual health advisory groups across NSW
 
The CNC3 role provides formalised and ongoing clinical supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team at SHIL and supports the training of the nursing team. The CNC3 provides comprehensive reviews of workplace instructions for SHIL and oversees research and quality improvement activities at SHIL.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Minimum seven years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least five years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of practice or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
  3. Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across various mediums, with proven application of the practice development framework in clinical settings. This includes experience in providing clinical support to GPs in HIV and STI care, as well as experience in contact tracing and partner notification.
  4. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice through the initiation, utilisation, and review of evidence-based research.
  5. Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning, with expertise in managing organisational and cultural change.
  6. Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of ability to direct the development of educational programs.
  7. Proven clinical expertise in complex, client-centred consultancy, with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and achieve outcomes effectively.
  8. Proven ability to produce comprehensive and effective reports.
