True Colours Clinic is a Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) health service for people aged 16- 25 (AYA) and is one of the Metropolitan Sydney Services developed to provide gender affirming care in NSW in partnership with Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.

True Colours is a holistic, multidisciplinary clinic and provides person-centered, safe, quality, and inclusive gender affirming care and treatment. 

True Colours is seeking a passionate and experienced nurse to join the multidisciplinary team providing high quality gender affirm care. Experience in gender affirming care, youth health and/or mental health required.

This position will provide clinical support to the multidisciplinary team, work to support service improvements and participate in quality improvements.

True Colours clinic is a holistic, multidisciplinary service that provides, safe, quality, and inclusive gender-affirming care and treatment to the Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) population aged 16 to 25 years.
 
The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 - True Colours provides advanced clinical service delivery, planning, management, and consultancy. The CNC provides clinical leadership and education to the nursing unit and ensures a high standard of clinical excellence and consistency in nursing care.
 
The position supports research programs and quality improvement activities. The role also ensures a culture of safety and governance is embedded in clinical practice and service delivery at the True Colours Clinic in line with national standards. The role will be required to collaborate and work in partnership with the other SHBBV services within the organisation.

Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 means : a registered nurse appointed as such to a position approved by the Health Service, who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, and in addition who has approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the Health Service.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to travel as required in role.
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post graduate experience and a post graduate qualification in a relevant field of practice or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  4. Knowledge of research methodology and Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines standards and experience in the conduct of clinical research trials.
  5. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
  6. Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
  7. Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research.
  8. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework.
