The Elver Program is a NSW state-wide, multidisciplinary trauma treatment service supporting children and young people living in Out of Home Care, who often face significant barriers to accessing services and experience poorer outcomes across multiple domains. Funded by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) in partnership with Health, the program delivers an innovative mental health Model of Care that creates unique opportunities for Speech Pathologists to advocate for CYP with communication needs across complex systems.This position is based within the DCJ Intensive Services office in Parramatta and forms part of a collaborative partnership between South Western Sydney Local Health District and DCJ. The role sits within a dynamic, specialist mental health team and includes opportunities to work across NSW, with some travel outside the Sydney metropolitan area required.
Are You the Right Fit?
As a Senior Speech Pathologist (Level 3), you will play a key leadership role in delivering and overseeing high-quality speech pathology services for children and young people with complex mental health, trauma, and attachment-related presentations stemming from experiences of abuse and neglect. You will provide advanced clinical assessment and intervention, with a strong focus on improving both the functional communication capacity of the child or young person and the capability of the care system supporting them.This role also involves district-wide consultation, systemic care coordination, and contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical supervision. Ongoing professional learning, development, and supervision are embedded in the program to support your growth as a specialist clinician.
Selection Criteria

- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Describe your experience providing specialist mental health nursing care to children and young people with complex trauma, attachment difficulties, and high-risk presentations. How do you ensure your practice is trauma-informed and responsive to individual needs?
- Provide an example of how you have delivered clinical leadership or expert consultation within a multidisciplinary or interagency context. How did your input influence care planning, decision-making, or outcomes for the child or young person?
- Outline your experience contributing to education, service development, or quality improvement initiatives. How have you used evidence, research, or evaluation to strengthen clinical practice or service delivery?
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
