Join Murrumbidgee Local Health District as a Senior Speech Pathologist (Level 3), where you'll play a central role in delivering evidence-based speech pathology services to patients and clients across the region. Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll apply advanced clinical reasoning to assess and treat individuals across a range of communication and swallowing needs. Key deliverables:
Deliver comprehensive speech pathology services across your specialty area, incorporating evidence-based practice and telehealth, including weekend and outreach services as required.
Lead and collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes and support safe, timely discharge, while maintaining accurate documentation in line with NSW Health directives.
Provide clinical supervision, mentoring and professional support to Level 1/2 Speech Pathologists, Allied Health Assistants, and students on clinical placement.
Maintain appropriate and accurate activity statistics and documentation. Ensure all documentation is completed within relevant Key Performance Indicators, guidelines and NSW Health Directives.
Work collaboratively to optimise positive workplace culture. This includes demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively with others and to address any conflict in a constructive manner.
Develop, demonstrate and lead cultural competence and a commitment to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal people
Maintain personal and professional development by participating in evidence based practice activities, training/ education, clinical supervision and performance reviews in order to continuously improve the level and quality of services.
Actively contribute to the MLHD Professional Discipline Network, Allied Health network and Multidisciplinary teams.
Champion quality improvement by initiating, leading and evaluating service development and research initiatives, and contributing actively to MLHD professional networks.
Our ideal candidate will be:
A qualified speech pathologist with a tertiary degree, eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership and demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skills in your specialty area.
Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience within the required specialty area, with an emphasis on evidence based practice.
Demonstrated well-developed time management skills, written and verbal communication, and IT skills including an ability or willingness to use telehealth as a mode of delivery of clinical care.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, implement and evaluate quality improvement initiatives, research and service development processes.
An experienced clinical leader with a track record of supervising staff and students, making complex clinical decisions, and developing policies and procedures that improve service delivery.
A skilled communicator who can negotiate, advocate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders — from patients and carers to GPs, community organisations, and professional networks.
A self-motivated, organised professional with strong time management skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a willingness to travel and embrace telehealth as a mode of care delivery.
