About the role

The Orange Health Service Social Work Department operates across both the Orange General Hospital and Bloomfield Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Campus. This position is an opportunity for Social Workers both local or looking for a ‘Tree change’ to become a member of a dynamic rural Social Work Department. 

The Senior Social Worker – Cancer Care provides psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention short term counselling interventions (individual and group) and complex psychological support to cancer patients, carers and their relatives receiving cancer treatment at Orange Health Service. The role is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and overall provision of psychosocial care in cancer services.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Level 4 Senior Social Worker - Psycho-Oncology Counsellor in providing for the psychosocial care of patients, carers & relatives experiencing cancer. The role provides social work services in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, enabling a continuity of service model for patients, carers and relatives receiving cancer treatment. 

As a Level 3 Senior Social Worker in this position, there is an opportunity to apply your supervisory knowledge and skills and engaged in the development of social workers in Oncology Social Work practice.
