We are seeking a passionate and compassionate clinician to join our Sexual Assault Service in a role that is both deeply meaningful and professionally rewarding. This is temporary position with the possibility of extension, we welcome part-time, full-time and job share applications.
As a Sexual Assault Counsellor, you will provide specialist therapeutic support to children, young people, adults and their families following experiences of sexual assault. Your work will include crisis response, ongoing counselling, advocacy, assessment, case management, community engagement and education. It is a female-identified role and will also contribute to our 24/7 crisis counselling roster, ensuring support is available when it is needed most.

What you will bring to the role
- Qualification: * Social Work: Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or * Psychologist: A four-year degree in psychology, being a three-year degree with a fourth-year honours in psychology; or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer, and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or * Counselling: Minimum AQF level 7 qualification recognised or accredited by the Peak Body (PACFA) with eligibility for membership as a counsellor with PACFA. Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification for this position and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Demonstrated client-centred psychosocial assessment skills and specialist knowledge that supports communication and exploration of the sensitive and inter-related dynamics of violence, abuse and neglect issues.
- Demonstrated advanced therapeutic counselling clinical practice skills for client groups with complex trauma presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead from where you are by taking initiative, influencing positive change and contributing to service quality and team culture, including the ability to provide clinical supervision and support to health professionals.
- Demonstrated excellence in task and time management, clinical record-keeping, and computer skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date clinical handover information across multiple patient information systems.
- Demonstrated application of current policies and legislation relating to sexual assault, child protection, domestic violence and children under 10 with problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours.
- Demonstrated capacity to work in partnership with others applying high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to negotiate positive outcomes in emotionally charged situations with difficult and complex issues.
- Current NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) with willingness to use for work purposes and ability to attend Nepean Hospital within 1 hour as required in participation of 24/7 crisis roster.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
