Remuneration: $77.10 -$79.65 per hour
Hours Per Week: 35 (Job Share may be considered for part time hours)
Location: Westmead Hospital - Westmead Breast Cancer Institute 

 

Where you'll be working
You will join the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute, based at Westmead Hospital, delivering comprehensive Screening, Clinical Care, Research and Education programs across Western Sydney. As part of a large, progressive health precinct, you will contribute to a service committed to early detection, patient-centred care and innovation in breast imaging.

What you'll be doing 
As a senior Medical Radiation Scientist (Level 4 Year 1), you will provide expert, specialised breast imaging services while leading quality, education and operational excellence across multiple sites. Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Perform advanced mammography, breast ultrasound and interventional procedures including stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsy

  • Lead quality assurance (QA) programs to meet National Accreditation Standards and BreastScreen requirements

  • Cannulate and administer IV contrast for Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM) in line with safety protocols

  • Mentor, supervise and develop radiographers and students, supporting workforce capability and succession planning

  • Contribute to clinical governance, policy development, audit, research and continuous improvement initiatives

 

You will work independently and collaboratively, draft monthly imaging rosters, participate in a 7-day rotational roster, and travel across screening sites to support equitable access to care.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Radiography 

  • Registration in line with Award requirements: AHPRA

  • License: EPA  

 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications.

  2. Demonstrated experience in Breast Imaging (Mammography and Breast Ultrasound) and in providing high quality Breast Imaging services that are patient/client focused according to the objectives and policies of the BCI.

  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  4. High level customer service skills, and effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with patients/clients.

  5. Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative to ensure efficient daily department workflow.

  6. Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes.

  7. High working knowledge of mammography equipment and knowledge of BreastScreen Australia Program and the National Accreditation Standards.

  8. Excellent and detailed working knowledge of RIS PACS in both Diagnostic and Screening Breast Imaging Programs and managing of any PACS data related issues.
