Are you an Aboriginal mental health professional passionate about supporting children and young people in Out-of-Home Care? Join us in making a meaningful difference through the Elver Program—an innovative, trauma-informed mental health service delivered in partnership between South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) and the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal clinician to bring cultural knowledge, leadership, and healing to our multidisciplinary team. Your voice and expertise will help shape culturally safe and responsive care for Aboriginal children and young people across NSW, including those in foster care, family-based settings, and intensive residential placements.

About The Role:

  • Provide culturally grounded, recovery-oriented mental health assessments and interventions.

  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and communities to support healing and wellbeing.

  • Contribute to the Sherwood Program, a secure therapeutic residential care initiative, promoting culturally sensitive practice.

  • Carry a clinical caseload, offer mentorship, and build capacity across services.

  • Deliver services in homes, clinics, communities, and via telehealth—with travel as needed.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a team that values Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing.

  • Help shape a service that prioritises children who are unable to access mainstream mental health care, especially those who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and those under 12 years.

  • Access professional development, supervision, and opportunities to lead cultural change.

We strongly encourage Aboriginal applicants to apply and be part of a program that respects and celebrates culture, connection, and community.
