About the roles

These roles are an opportunity to work within Government Relations and contribute to shaping the state approach to national health funding and reform priorities. The role facilitates the coordination of National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA) implementation, ensuring that the delivery of NHRA commitments remains aligned with NSW Health’s strategic system priorities and broader Government objectives. The role and the team broadly utilises governance structures to drive outcomes and reforms governance architecture where appropriate to enable timely and informed executive decision making.

Role 1: Senior Policy Officer, National Reform and System Interface
Employment Type: Full Time Temporary, up to 27 February 2027

The Senior Policy Officer, National Reform and System Interface provides high quality policy advice and project support across a range of complex national funding and reform work streams. This includes supporting implementation and ongoing monitoring of the NHRA in collaboration across the Government Relations Branch and partners, coordinating NSW Health’s response to the Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding (including Ministerial reporting obligations), and managing the strategic approach to interface engagement across disability reform, aged care reform and primary care. The role works closely with senior executives and stakeholders across the Ministry of Health, the NSW Government and national partners to ensure cohesive, evidence based positions and timely delivery of priorities.

Role 2: Senior Policy Officer, National Funding Reform
Employment Type: Full Time Temporary, up to 17 November 2026

The Senior Policy Officer, National Funding Reform,  develops strategic policy advice on national health funding arrangements. This includes facilitating NSW’s engagement with key national bodies involved in health funding to secure funding and shape improvements to national health reform and funding arrangements, within the context NSW Health’s priorities, broader Government objectives and the NHRA. The role also supports NSW Health’s Federation Funding Arrangements with the Australian Government. Effective collaboration within the Ministry of Health and relevant government agencies in NSW and across Australia is critical to success in this role.

Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you'll be doing

  • Providing expert advice and information on the potential impact and relevance of current and emerging policy issues on NSW Health and Government policy objectives, as required.
  • Supporting strong and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in cross-jurisdictional networks including Commonwealth and state and territory governments and independent national bodies, to resolve issues and facilitate health funding reform.
  • Maintaining and applying an up-to-date knowledge of the operations of Health funding and governance including arrangements at the national and jurisdictional level, to inform advice and action.
     


About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and provide strategic advice to senior executive.
  • An understanding of Health funding arrangements and the ability to distil and effectively communicate complex technical information with clarity to achieve strategic objectives.
