Senior Policy Officer, Palliative Care, Health and Social Policy Branch

  • Full Time, Temporary role (up to 2 years)

About this role
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Senior Project Officer to join our dynamic fast paced team to support projects, program monitoring, administration, and policy implementation of the End-of-Life Palliative Care strategy for NSW. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to Palliative Care in NSW.

You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.

Crown Clerk Grade 9/10, salary from $125,693 - $138,510 p.a. (plus Super and annual leave loading)

What you'll be doing
This role will be responsible for:

  • Managing the project cycle, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets and meeting reporting requirements to ensure the Palliative Care program outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate all aspects of implementation including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, impact and quality measures.
  • As the Senior Project Officer you will be responsible for providing coordination and administration of working groups and committees and delivering on outcomes of the program.
  • Manage stakeholder groups, monitor and report on deliverables and milestones and in association with the Principal Project Officer the position will develop, implement, and evaluate the program.


About you 
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

  • You’ll have demonstrated relevant, professional experience in health and social policy and/or relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills to provide high quality timely advice.
  • Strong Stakeholder engagement, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to build relationships across the End of Life Palliative Care sector.
  • You’ll be able to work independently with strong organisational and time management skills to manage competing demands and make sound decisions to meet deadlines.
  • You’ll have experience working in NSW Health or government as an advantage.
  • Experience of government procurement processes also an advantage.

The position is located in St Leonards, in a modern, purpose-built building within an activity-based working environment. Close to public transport, cafés and local amenities. 

The team supports a hybrid working model and onsite office attendance will be required up to 5 days per fortnight and on a need’s basis and during face-to-face workshops.
