Join the Team 
As a Senior Network Engineer – SDA Fabric within the Emergency Services Organisation (ESO) - Network & Infrastructure, you will provide senior technical ownership of the Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA) platform supporting critical emergency-services systems. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the operation, troubleshooting, improvement and lifecycle of a live production SDA environment.

You will actively contribute to technical direction, challenge designs where appropriate, identify better solutions and take agreed recommendations through implementation and operational handover. You will work across security, data centre, WAN, compute, application and architecture teams to maintain a resilient, secure and supportable platform.

This role requires demonstrated real-world production experience with Cisco SDA. It is not intended as a transition role for engineers whose primary experience is traditional campus switching, routing or legacy wireless.

In this role, you will:

• Take technical ownership of the SDA platform, including its operational health, supportability, resilience and continuous improvement.
• Operate and troubleshoot Fabric Edge, Control Plane and Border Nodes, LISP, VXLAN, Virtual Networks, SGTs, TrustSec and external/fusion connectivity.
• Manage Cisco Catalyst Center for provisioning, assurance, software lifecycle and telemetry-driven platform health monitoring.
• Support Cisco ISE (802.1X, MAB, RADIUS, CoA, profiling and policy) and fabric-enabled wireless integration.
• Diagnose complex endpoint, authentication and connectivity issues end-to-end using CLI, packet captures, logs and controller telemetry.
• Review and challenge proposed designs, and take agreed improvements from concept through implementation and operational handover.
• Lead technical response to major incidents and complex vendor escalations, driving root cause and corrective action to completion.
• Plan and execute upgrades, maintenance and failover testing under formal change control, maintaining standards and documentation.
• Work across security, data centre, WAN, compute and architecture teams, and participate in on-call support for this 24x7 environment.

About You

• Production Cisco SDA experience – Demonstrated hands-on experience with a live SDA environment; proof-of-concept or lab-only exposure doesn't meet this requirement.
• SDA fabric engineering – Fabric Edge, Control Plane, Border Nodes, LISP, VXLAN, Virtual Networks, SGTs, TrustSec and identity-based segmentation in production.
• Catalyst Center and ISE – Hands-on with Catalyst Center provisioning, assurance and lifecycle, plus ISE (802.1X, MAB, RADIUS, CoA) and fabric-enabled wireless.
• Advanced troubleshooting – CLI analysis, packet captures, debug logs and controller telemetry, with strong routing and switching fundamentals.
• Critical production operations – Experience in highly available environments with formal change, incident and problem management, and resilience/failover testing.
• Senior technical ownership – Ability to own outcomes, challenge designs, mentor engineers and drive issues to resolution across technology teams.
