About the Role

Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus as well as from Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Dame Edith Walker Hospitals. Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is one of Australia's leading hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services. Its specialities include cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cancer, respiratory medicine, neurology, liver and kidney transplants.

 

The primary purpose of the role is to manage brain banking activities of the RPA Department of Neuropathology, including the Australian Sports Brain Bank, Australian Veterans Brain Bank, MS Australia Brain Bank and Neurological Brain Bank (alongside relevant University staff as needed). This includes overall managerial responsibilities, database management, as well as implementation of new and existing brain banking procedures.

  

To provide high level expert advice on all aspects of biobanking to the Sydney Local Health District Chief Executive.

Ideal Candidate

  • Has minimum level of Master of Science (or equivalent) in Pathology/Medicine or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in operating within the framework of the NSW Human Tissue Act and/or other relevant state legislations.

  • Current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).

  • Proven track record (presentation/publications) in brain banking and/or brain tissue research.
