About the role

As a Senior Genetic Counsellor within the Hunter Family Cancer Service, no two days will look the same, your day-to-day will be diverse and meaningful. You’ll deliver specialist genetic counselling to individuals and families at increased risk of hereditary cancer, supporting them through complex, deeply personal decisions.

You’ll work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, contribute specialist advice across the Hunter New England region, and play an active role in supervising students and supporting colleagues. Beyond clinical care, you’ll contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative models of care.

You’ll also work closely with the Principal Genetic Counsellor and Service Manager, helping to shape the strategic planning and future direction of the Cancer Genetics Network. This is a role for someone who wants to influence how services evolve, not just participate in them.

If you’re motivated by meaningful clinical work, leadership opportunities, and the chance to grow a service that truly changes lives, this role is for you.

Where you’ll be working

The Hunter Family Cancer Service is a collaborative, forward-thinking team delivering leading cancer genetics care across the district. Based at the Waratah Campus, you’ll work within a close-knit multidisciplinary team and be supported by the extensive professional network and resources of NSW Health Cancer Services. Innovation, learning, and teamwork are central to the way we work.

While the role starts with an onsite training phase, there is potential for a more flexible or hybrid arrangement over time, depending on the needs of the team and the individual.

Why work with us?

We invest in our people because great care starts with supported clinicians.
