We have an opportunity for a Senior Epidemiologist to join the Alcohol and Other Drugs Evidence Generation team in the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence. The candidate will be analysing data for a new public health register, with a focus on opioids and the Opioid Treatment Program.
Crown Clerk 9/10 starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week, work location- 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards

What you'll be doing
The Senior Epidemiologist will be part of a team generating evidence on the harms associated with alcohol and other drugs. They will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders from different areas of health. The emphasis for this role is on investigating the use and harms associated with opioids in NSW. The Senior Epidemiologist will conduct robust and reproducible analyses of discrete health datasets and linked data assets in a safe and secure manner. They will ensure analyses are delivered in agreed timelines and provide regular progress updates to relevant teams, management and stakeholders.
About you
- We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Have relevant tertiary qualifications with demonstrated experience working in a health-related field involving analyses of health data. Experience with linked administrative data and/or in the alcohol and other drugs sector is desirable.
- High-level conceptual, evaluation and analytical thinking skills, with an understanding of population health information, aptitude for finding, addressing and managing data quality issues.
- An ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, experience working in multidisciplinary teams with differing priorities.
- The ability to excel in a small dynamic team environment.
- A growth mindset, and commitment to continuous learning and personal development.
