The Mental Health Commission NSW is seeking interested applicants for the position of Senior Communications Officer, Commissioner's Office. This is an exciting opportunity to lead end-to-end communications, media relations and event management initiatives that raise the profile of the Commissioner and support advocacy for mental health and suicide prevention reform across NSW.

Primary Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Manager Commissioner’s Office and Strategic Relations, this role provides comprehensive communications support for the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners. The role provides end to end communications, event management and media relations support to the Commissioner including online communications channels including social media and publications.
The position also triages the Commission inbox, designs, organises and manages Commissioner initiated community visits and stakeholder events to support the advocacy work of the Commission and raise the profile of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners.
You will develop and implement integrated communication strategies, draft media statements and speeches, and build strong relationships with government, media and community stakeholders to amplify the Commission’s advocacy work.
About You
You are a proactive communications professional with strong experience in media relations, event management and stakeholder engagement. You excel at crafting clear, compelling messages and managing complex communications across diverse audiences.
Your ability to plan and deliver high-impact events, combined with strong digital and social media skills, makes you a key contributor to raising the profile of the Commissioner and driving reform conversations.
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, digital media, marketing or similar/related field.
- Communications professional with extensive experience supporting organisational communication channels, and media. \
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal, with an ability to develop integrated communication strategies that align with organisation priorities while engaging positively with a range of diverse stakeholders
- Extensive experience in event management and stakeholder engagements, from concept to evaluation, ensuring alignment with objectives and impact across diverse audiences.
- Ability to travel with the Commissioner as required
