 What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Cancer Care Dietitian, you’ll provide advanced clinical nutrition services to inpatients and outpatients with cancer, haematological conditions and palliative care needs. You’ll also mentor dietitians and students, drive quality improvement, and contribute to research initiatives.

  • Deliver expert nutritional assessment, education and counselling

  • Collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to optimise patient care

  • Supervise and support junior dietitians, assistants and students

  • Contribute to education, research and resource development in cancer nutrition

  • Lead service improvement and maintain clinical excellence within oncology dietetics

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics 

  • Registration: Eligible for full membership of Dietitians' Association of Australia. 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics and eligible for full membership of the Dietitians’ Association of Australia.

  2. Post graduate experience in clinical nutrition, with experience in both outpatient and inpatient service delivery in a cancer and haematology service or similar.

  3. Experience in managing complex caseloads, demonstrating excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.

  4. Well-developed written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, effective time management and ability to prioritise workload.

  5. Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement, with the ability to work independently with minimum direct clinical supervision, but also effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  6. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, including clinical and student supervision and commitment to advancing the profile of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department.

  7. Demonstrated experience in quality improvement, in planning, implementing, evaluating and reporting on services.

  8. High level computer skills, including experience using CBORD Diet Office System and Cerner eMR or equivalent (e.g. ARIA).
