The Role
The occupant of this position will assist the Head of Department in management of a busy clinical service, and to direct the other departmental administrative staff.
The position holder ensures the provision of a high standard of clinical and administrative support services including but not limited to confidential document preparation, agenda and minute preparation, corporate resources management, human resource documentation, as well as assistance with the preparation of policies and procedures in a timely, patient-focused and resource-efficient manner.
To meet the needs of the Head of Department, as required, by assuming responsibility for specific projects, tasks and activities within the
department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and external as required. To provide assistance with the corporate software systems at a reference level within the department.
Where You’ll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
- Are you currently employed within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, War Memorial or Calvary?
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and demonstrated success in delivering high level support services to the management of a busy clinical department.
- Demonstrated exceptional office management and organisational skills.
- 3.Experience in project management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high workload, prioritise tasks whilst under sustained pressure, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and use sound judgement and work collaboratively and as part of a team as well as independently.
- Demonstrated experience in writing reports, developing procedures and work practices, business papers/agendas, minute taking and high level correspondence with attention to detail.
- A demonstrable high level of proficiency with information handling, organisational and office softwares.
