What you'll be doing
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is seeking dedicated and professional Security Officers to join our team at Westmead Hospital. These permanent full‑time positions (38 hours per week) operate across a 12 hour, 7‑day rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays. Penalty rates and opportunities for overtime may apply in accordance with the applicable NSW Health Award.
As a Security Officer, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure hospital environment while delivering high‑quality customer service. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and respond confidently to incidents as they arise. Key responsibilities will be to
Maintain safety and security of people, property and assets
Identify risks, take appropriate action and complete accurate reports
Provide professional customer service to staff, patients and visitors
De‑escalate challenging situations and respond to incidents and emergencies
Monitor security systems including CCTV, duress alarms and access controls
We will support you to succeed through:
Structured induction and mandatory training
On‑the‑job training and buddy system support
Violence prevention training
Ongoing guidance from senior staff and leadership

Essential Requirements:
License: Class 1A Licence as issued under the Security Industry Act 1997
Qualification: Certificate II in Security Guarding and current First Aid Certificate
Selection Criteria:
NSW Driver Licence with excellent driving record (full or provisional class C)
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and de-escalate difficult situations
Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Demonstrated experience with electronic security systems such as access control and building management systems, CCTV monitoring, data entry, and radio communications
Ability to adapt and learn emerging security and IT systems
Experience in a customer service role, ideally involving access or traffic monitoring
