About the Role
The RPA Fetal Medicine Department – Women and Babies is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Research Cardiac Technologist / Sonographer to join an exciting and expanding women’s health research program within the Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced cardiac sonography skills with cutting-edge clinical research in a collaborative academic environment. The successful applicant will contribute to high-quality women’s health imaging research, support multidisciplinary clinical studies, and work alongside experienced clinicians, sonographers, and researchers within one of Australia’s leading health and research precincts.
The Research Sonographer will play a key role in coordinating and delivering high-quality cardiac ultrasound imaging for research participants involved in Fetal Medicine Department research studies. The position involves independent cardiac sonography scanning, accurate image acquisition and measurement, data management, and active participation in research outputs including presentations and publications.

Ideal Candidate
- Holds relevant Tertiary qualifications in Medical Radiation Science or equivalent and a Post graduate diploma in Ultrasound with a current EPA Licence and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and/or a Post Graduate Degree in Sonography or qualifications or competencies deemed equivalent.
- Current accreditation with the Australian Sonographer's Association Registry (ASAR).
- Demonstrated experience in cardiac sonography/ultrasound (echocardiography).
