The Role
The Nursing and Midwifery – Our Strategy for Transforming Person Centred Cultures 2024-2029 guides our profession in the development of effective person-centred practice and healthful cultures within SESLHD. We advocate for shared decision-making, collaborative relationships, compassionate and person-centred leadership, and supporting innovative practices.
As a Registered Nurse in SESLHD, you will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and leading, supporting and supervising other nurses/ midwives and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.

As a Registered Nurse in Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital, you will be encouraged to share your clinical expertise and further develop your practice with the professional development opportunities available.
You will be working on Ward 2 West, an 18 bed Surgical unit that specialises in Ophthalmology and Hand surgery. You will also have the opportunity to work in the hand clinic which is co located next to the ward.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse that applies to medical/surgical and/or emergency or perioperative clinical setting
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Current computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice.
- Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.
