Where you will be working:
Maitland Hospital offers a comprehensive outpatient service providing a wide range of healthcare services, including general medicine, maternity, mental health, and orthopaedics.
The Maitland Outpatient Service is located on the Ground Level of Maitland Hospital, Metford. Clinics operate Monday to Friday between 0800 and 16:30 hours. The service is supported by a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in an outpatient setting.
About the role:
The Registered Nurse will work across multiple outpatient specialties and play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients. An understanding of wound care is required to support clinical practice within the outpatient environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to outpatients across a range of specialties
- Supporting and coordinating clinical workflows within the outpatient clinics
- Performing wound assessments and wound management in line with best practice
- Advocating for and supporting the use of telehealth where appropriate
- Contributing to patient education, discharge planning, and continuity of care
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and complying with relevant policies and standards
The role reports to the Outpatients Nurse Manager and is professionally supported by a Clinical Coordinator, with comprehensive orientation to the outpatient service and hospital systems, ongoing clinical guidance and mentorship, and access to relevant education and professional development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative and team-focused approach, and a responsive, supportive attitude towards both colleagues and patients.
Essential:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Demonstrated clinical nursing experience relevant to an outpatient setting
- Sound understanding of professional nursing standards and clinical governance
Desirable / can be worked towards:
- Experience in wound care management
- Experience working across multiple specialties
- Previous exposure to outpatient or ambulatory care settings
- Experience or interest in telehealth models of care
