About the Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated and patient-focused Registered Nurse to join the Hunter Joint Centre at New Maitland Hospital. This modern unit is located within a state-of-the-art hospital, offering contemporary facilities and advanced health system infrastructure that supports safe, high-quality care and professional practice.
The Hunter Joint Centre is a specialised orthopaedic unit consisting of 12 funded beds, with additional beds utilised to support surge capacity. The unit is staffed by a diverse, inclusive, and highly experienced nursing team with strong backgrounds in both medical and surgical nursing. You will be supported by a skilled team of senior clinicians, including Orthopaedic Specialists, a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Educator, and Allied Health professionals, all working collaboratively to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
You will be joining a dynamic multidisciplinary team that includes Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, and a large allied health workforce. The unit is recognised for delivering excellence in the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) model of care for joint replacement patients. This evidence-based model focuses on optimising recovery through pre-operative education, standardised analgesia, and early mobilisation, enabling reduced length of stay without compromising patient safety or quality of care.
This position reports to the NUM 5A and offers a comprehensive hospital and ward-based orientation program. All new starters are well supported to develop competence and confidence in managing patients under the ERAS protocol, with ongoing access to clinical guidance, education, and professional development opportunities.
About You
You will be a motivated and adaptable Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in orthopaedics, medical, or surgical nursing is desirable, but not essential, as support and education will be provided.
