Join the Safe Staffing Levels Rollout | Make a Real Impact in Regional Emergency Care

Looking for a meaningful nursing role in a location that lets you breathe, explore, and thrive? Join a fantastic Emergency Department team in Taree, where you’ll enhance patient care in a supportive, evolving environment, all while enjoying the natural beauty of the Barrington Coast.

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As part of the Safe Staffing Levels project, you’ll be joining a team that benefits from improved staffing ratios and strong clinical leadership.

What does Safe Staffing Mean for You?
The NSW Government is rolling out minimum nurse-to-patient ratios across Emergency Departments, ensuring safer, more sustainable workloads for nurses and better care for patients. For you, that means:

  • 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios in treatment areas
  • Dedicated triage and in-charge roles 24/7
  • Improved support, safer conditions, and time to focus on your patients

You’ll be backed by a collaborative team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioners, Educators, and a strong senior leadership team, all committed to professional development and wellbeing.

Where You’ll Be Working
Taree is a riverside town nestled in the heart of the Manning Valley, surrounded by pristine beaches, lush hinterlands, and national parks. While the town may fly under the radar, locals know the secret:

  • 30 minutes to the coast – surf at Old Bar, swim at Crowdy Head, or relax on Diamond Beach
  • Gateway to Barrington Tops – just over an hour to waterfalls, rainforest hikes, and alpine air
  • Affordable living – more space, less stress, and room to raise a family
  • Close to major hubs – 1 hour to Port Macquarie, 2 hours to Newcastle

If you’ve been dreaming of a sea change or tree change, this is your chance to live it, while still growing your nursing career in a progressive, regional ED.

Why People Actually Choose This Region
While Taree might not be the headline act, locals know it’s what surrounds it that makes it special:

  • Affordable coastal living – Escape the city grind and enjoy a lower cost of living with space to breathe.
  • Strong community spirit – From farmers markets to riverside festivals, you’ll find friendly locals and real connection.
  • Great for families and nature lovers – Wide open spaces, top local schools, and room for your kids (or dogs) to roam.
  • A real tree change or sea change – Whether you’re after lush hinterland or coastal serenity, you’ll find both within reach.

What We Offer:

  • True work-life balance in a breathtaking region
  • Strong team culture with regular social events, fun scrubs days, and supportive leadership
  • Fitness Passport – discounted gym memberships for you and your family
  • Paid parental leave and salary packaging options
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your loved ones
  • Access to the MidCoast Community Connector for relocation and lifestyle support

About You:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Experience in ED or acute care settings
  • Confidence in meeting Transfer of Care (ToC) KPIs
  • Committed to continuous learning and evidence-based practice
  • Strong communicator and team player
