Where You’ll Be Working

The Anaesthetic Unit and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at John Hunter Hospital are a vital part of Perioperative Services, delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, acute environment. The unit supports a wide range of surgical specialties and maintains a strong focus on patient safety, efficiency and evidence-based practice.

The team culture is welcoming, collaborative and professional. Staff work closely together to ensure patients feel supported at every stage of their surgical journey, while also prioritising staff wellbeing, learning and development.

What our staff say

“I was fortunate enough to begin my career as a New Graduate Nurse in John Hunter Recovery. Since working in the unit, I have been supported by a collaborative team with an abundance of experience and a focus on staff development, while keeping patient care front and centre of everything we do.
After working in the unit as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and now as the Nurse Unit Manager, I feel there is a strong sense of purpose knowing that we are often working with patients when they are at their most vulnerable. I am proud to be part of such a dedicated team.”
Tizzana Staib, Nurse Unit Manager – Recovery

About the Role

In this role, you’ll provide specialised anaesthetic and/or PACU nursing care, supporting patients through the immediate perioperative period.
