This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the largest Local Health Districts in NSW, supporting a diverse workforce across both hospital and community settings. As part of a district‑wide Workers Compensation team, you will work alongside experienced Recover at Work Coordinators who are dedicated to promoting staff wellbeing and facilitating effective recovery. The position provides exposure to a broad range of varied and complex cases within a large healthcare environment, offering excellent opportunities to further develop your expertise in injury management, case coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
As a Recover at Work Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting injured employees and managers following a workplace injury or illness.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting staff and managers following a workplace injury.
- Coordinating Recover at Work plans and suitable duties.
- Liaising with insurers (EML), treating practitioners and operational managers.
- Monitoring recovery progress and facilitating case conferences where required.
- Providing advice and guidance to managers on injury management processes.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring legislative compliance.

The ideal candidate will:
- Bring strong interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills, enabling you to build trust with injured workers and managers, actively listen, and confidently collaborate with treating practitioners, insurers and operational teams.
- Demonstrate exceptional organisation, attention to detail and case management capability, ensuring accurate documentation, effective coordination of recovery plans, and the ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities with professionalism.
- Show empathy, resilience and sound judgement, applying critical thinking to develop practical Recover at Work solutions while maintaining a supportive, respectful and worker‑centred approach in challenging situations.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Tertiary qualifications in physiotherapy, occupational therapy or other health related field; or experience in workplace rehabilitation coordination or equivalent work experience; and/or a combination of study and work experience.
- Please describe your experience managing workplace injuries or coordinating return-to-work processes. In your response, outline how you have worked with injured workers, managers and external stakeholders to support safe and sustainable recovery at work.
- This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, effective time management and the ability to manage complex situations. Please provide an example of a time where you had to work with multiple stakeholders to resolve a challenging workplace issue while managing competing priorities. What approach did you take and what was the outcome?
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses, and willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
