About us

System Performance Support (SPS) is a branch within NSW Health that partners with health service executives, clinicians, and other Ministry teams to improve the performance and sustainability of health services across the state.

Specifically, you will be joining the State Operational Data Store (ODS) Program.

The ODS Program develops dashboards and digital tools to monitor performance, including the Patient Flow Portal, which tracks bed availability, discharge processes, and cleaning workflows, to enable a variety of statewide initiatives.

The Project and Business Analyst is responsible for supporting Senior Business Analysts and Project Managers managing initiatives from conception, planning through to implementation to support NSW Health’s strategic vision and priorities associated with all State ODS Program initiatives and applications as commissioned by NSW Health.

The Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $109,857- $129,624 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 38-hour work week.

What you will do

  • Assist Senior Business Analysts and Program Managers in planning and delivery of health systems under the State ODS Program Team, including planning, analysis, testing, continuous improvement and coordinating critical meetings and workshops.
  • Contribute documentation such as Statements of Work, Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, Process Maps, Change Impact Assessments, Test Cases, Status Reports, Project Presentations and Data Dictionaries.
  • Coordinate and support stakeholder engagement sessions across the organisation to gather requirements and assist in the development lifecycle through to implementation.
  • Monitor and report risks and issues affecting project timelines or quality, aligned with delivery frameworks.
  • Manage and maintain project schedules and plans which includes gathering work effort estimates to support resource planning, coordinating resources, supporting risk assessment and mitigation and release readiness and deployment coordination whilst ensuring compliance with delivery excellence framework.

About you:

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health. We are looking for:

  • Technology project experience (> 2 years) on supporting full software development lifecycle activities: including assisting with business case for project resourcing, project planning and scheduling, supporting with project documentation, engaging with developers, testers, analysts, change managers, implementation officers and project managers; supporting with work allocation and release planning, driving software release cycles and deployment discipline.
  • Business analyst experience (> 1 year) collating business requirements and translating them into functional and non-functional requirements preferably (i.e. desirable) for custom developed systems.
  • (Preferable) Healthcare industry experience (> 2 years) working on technology programs of work preferably in the healthcare sector, with a focus on emergency, hospital and out of hospital care settings: engaging with a range of stakeholders (like clinical, finance and IT staff) and development and implementation team members to assist with delivering against user needs, scope, timeline and budgets
  • Strong documentation skills with experience developing Business Requirements, User Stories, Functional Design Specifications, Process Maps, current state and future state gap analysis, Change Impact Assessments and Data Dictionaries.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to facilitate interviews, small focus groups as well as triage and analyse communications, briefs, policies and reports to determine the subject matter content and input required by the Program.
