About the role

You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW. 

As the Principal Business Analyst (SSL), you will align the business needs with technical solutions. The role is responsible for understanding and documenting complex business requirements related to data analysis, reporting, integration and then translating them into actionable technical specifications. This is to ensure that the SSL reporting requirements align with the organisation's strategic goals and empowers data- driven decision-making processes.

You will work in dynamic environment with a highly experienced team, including the Principal Nursing Workload and Staffing Advisor and Associate Director Strategic Projects and Analytics to manage data processes for the strategic analysis of Workforce and activity data.

This role will require you to utilise your highly developed data analysis skills and extensive experience in MS Excel and Microsoft office products.

Health Manager level 4, starting salary from $147,653- $175,917 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Initiate and lead the collection of complex business requirements, defining clear acceptance criteria to ensure alignment with the strategic objectives.
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement and functional design activities for the SSL application assessing data suitability for business needs and ensuring alignment with the business objectives.
  • Develop, manage and mentor the team in creating detailed technical documentation, including technical requirements, As-is/To-be processes, and potential test cases while ensuring consistency and quality of deliverables.
  • Manage data integrity and accuracy throughout the data layers while supporting and guiding other technical business analysts in these tasks.
  • Facilitate and manage workshops, focus groups, working groups and other meetings, driving outcomes that align with strategic objectives and managing elements of project delivery.
  • Proactively identify, assess and manage risks and issues ensuring timely resolution and reporting to the Director/Project Manager, while mentoring the other business analysts in effective risk management practices.
  • Review, manage and approve deliverables of technical business analysts providing guidance, mentorship and support to enhance quality of the project deliverables.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, liaising between business stakeholders and development team.
  • Ensuring practice is documented, stored, and maintained for all to access to enable effective delivery and enhanced ways of working; challenging constructively and being objectively critical to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose.


About you

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and extensive work experience as a Technical Business Analyst within enterprise resource planning and performance management environment.
  • Extensive experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into functional and non- functional requirements, user stories and process maps.
  • Extensive working experience with project lifecycle and implementation methodology such as Agile Scrum, prince2 etc.
  • Strong technical expertise and recent hands-on experience using SQL or other data query, data modelling, reporting and profiling tools.
  • Extensive experience in analysing complex datasets, performing root cause analysis and providing solutions to challenging business or technical issues.
