About the Role
Canterbury Hospital is committed to providing high quality healthcare services to our local community, focused on patient and family-centred care. 

The role of a General Porter is to transport all Patients and equipment across Canterbury Hospital using the most appropriate mode of transport. Our focus is to ensure the comfort, safety and dignity of patients during transportation and to deliver a professional service in line with our CORE Values. The General Porters service enhances Patient Flow by delivering on the expectation of timely movement of patients throughout the hospital.

Ideal Candidate

 

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clinical staff members, patients and families in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may be confronting with duties that may include transporting and releasing deceased persons.

     

  • Ability to work on a 24 hour, 7 day rotating roster, with regular night shifts.
