The Mental Health Commission NSW is seeking interested applicants for the position of Policy Officer, System Reform. This is an exciting opportunity to lead end-to-end communications, media relations and event management initiatives that raise the profile of the Commissioner and support advocacy for mental health and suicide prevention reform across NSW.

About You
We are seeking a highly motivated individual and skilled professional to join the system reform portfolio. The role is pivotal in supporting the Director and the wider team to deliver evidence-informed policy, research, and strategic advice across the mental health and wellbeing, and suicide prevention portfolios.
About the role
The Policy Officer, System Reform is a key member of the System Reform Directorate, supporting the Director in identifying, developing, and advancing strategic policy initiatives across the mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention portfolios.
The role also provides high level administrative support and coordination to ensure the effective delivery of System Reform Directorate’s priorities.
Essential Requirements:
1. Demonstrated experience in policy development and analysis, including the ability to interpret complex information and synthesise evidence.
2. Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written materials, such as policy papers, reports, briefing notes, and correspondence for diverse audiences.
3. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, community organisations, and individuals with lived experience.
4. Proven capacity to manage competing priorities, adapt to change, and maintain professionalism.
5. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant tools, with the ability to apply digital solutions to support policy work, project coordination, and administrative tasks.
6. Relevant qualifications or equivalent industry experience in mental health and wellbeing/or suicide prevention.
