About the Service

Our District Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) portfolio delivers specialist, district wide programs that involve close partnering with internal and external services to provide high quality, timely and integrated services to children, young people and families, including women who are pregnant and their partners or support people. 

The District PARVAN Perinatal and Paediatric Program Manager is a new leadership role that provides operational management and strategic direction across a suite of district wide services, programs and roles, including

  • Safe Start

  • Pregnancy Family Conferencing

  • The Health Workforce within the Joint Child Protection Response Programs at

  • Tamworth and in Manning

  • District Child Wellbeing Co-ordinator

 

Violence, abuse and neglect is a serious and widespread health issue that when identified and responded to effectively, can reduce long term health outcomes and promote safety and healing FOR children, young people, adults, families and communities. This role provides leadership to a team of innovative, skilled and established senior clinicians undertaken critical work to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people in our district.

This position is site negotiable across the District however willingness to travel is essential.

 

About the Role

Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to step into the role of PARVAN Perinatal and Paediatric Program Manager.

This is a newly established, high-impact leadership position responsible for providing operational, strategic and clinical leadership across a suite of district-wide programs and some site-specific services that support children, young people and families impacted by, or at risk of, violence, abuse and neglect.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing, multidisciplinary team across multiple locations

  • Drive service quality, governance, workforce capability and strategic development

  • Oversee key programs including Safe Start, Pregnancy Family Conferencing, Joint Child Protection Response Programs and Child Wellbeing initiatives

  • Strengthen partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to improve system-wide responses

  • Contribute to policy, service innovation and system-level change to enhance patient outcomes

  • Champion trauma and violence informed, culturally safe and evidence-based practice

This position is site negotiable across the district, with travel required.

 

About You

You are an authentic and strategic leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable communities.

You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or a related health field, with eligibility for professional membership

  • Proven experience leading teams and fostering a positive, high-performing culture

  • Extensive experience working with individuals, families and communities impacted by, or at risk of, violence, abuse and neglect

  • Strong operational management experience within complex health service environments

  • Sound knowledge of relevant policy, legislation and service frameworks

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and partner agencies

  • Experience driving change, innovation and service development initiatives

  • A strong commitment to culturally safe, inclusive and trauma-informed practice
