The Murrumbidgee Local Health Service(MLHD) Specialist Palliative Care Service, is a community-based service proudly led by experienced nurses, and allied health team. The service provides comprehensive end of life and palliative care to patients with an advanced and life limiting illness and in-reach consultation to MLHD Health Services and Residential Aged Care facilities.


About the Opportunity

As the Palliative care Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) Level 2, you will lead all aspects of unit management, patient care, and nursing staff within  your area. You will ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care while optimising resources and supporting a collaborative, skilled workforce. This senior role encompasses service coordination, staff leadership, and strategic oversight beyond the scope of Level 1 management, providing opportunities to shape practice and drive improvements across the service.


About you

As the Nursing Unit Manager, our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Current authority to practice unrestricted as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Lead a team of nursing and midwifery staff, providing clinical, operational, and staff management at a senior level
  • Oversee strategic planning, workforce management, and resource allocation to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality care
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and motivated team culture
  • Promote patient-centred care and continuous improvement through adherence to safety, quality, and evidence-based practice standards
