The Opportunity
Our expanding Hospital in the Home (HiTH) service is seeking two Nurse Unit Managers Level 1—one in Newcastle and one in Maitland—to lead high-performing teams delivering hospital-level care in patients’ homes.
This is a unique opportunity to lead an innovative model of care, shape multidisciplinary collaboration, and influence patient outcomes and system flow. You’ll coordinate and oversee acute home-based care, improve patient flow, reduce length of stay, and ensure timely, high-quality, patient-centred care.
Position Overview
The purpose of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is to lead, direct, and coordinate client care, ensuring that nursing practice is safe, efficient, and aligned with high standards through ongoing quality improvement initiatives. The NUM oversees the nursing and multidisciplinary care team while managing the operational and business functions of the service. As a leader, the NUM demonstrates capability through their attitude, skills, behaviours, and attributes, including broad nursing experience and knowledge, a client-centred approach, professional integrity, ethical conduct, accountability, advocacy, and the ability to enable others. They also foster collaborative relationships, promote effective teamwork, and are committed to advancing the nursing profession and the provision of high-quality care.
You will:

✔ Improve patient flow and reduce length of stay
✔ Ensure timely, high‑quality, patient‑centred care
✔ Lead a dedicated team delivering hospital‑level care at home
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about nursing and improving patient outcomes. You will have:
- Current Registered Nurse registration and relevant acute clinical experience
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Strong communication, clinical governance, and quality/safety knowledge
- Experience (or willingness to develop) in service development, quality improvement, and change management
Your leadership style will demonstrate broad nursing knowledge, professional integrity, accountability, advocacy, and the ability to enable others. You thrive in collaborative environments and are committed to advancing the profession of nursing and care provision.
