Where you’ll be working

You’ll lead the Pre-Admission Clinic (PAC), a small, dedicated team working within the Outpatients Unit at Tamworth Hospital. The PAC plays a vital role in preparing patients for upcoming surgeries, ensuring they are optimised, informed and ready for their perioperative journey. This close-knit environment offers strong collaboration with the wider perioperative service and a clear focus on safe, streamlined surgical care.

About the role

As Nurse Unit Manager – Pre-Admission Clinic, you’ll provide both operational and clinical leadership to the PAC team, overseeing day-to-day clinic activity Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30, and reporting to the Nurse Manager, Perioperative Service. You’ll manage staffing, workflow and patient throughput; support thorough pre-operative assessments; drive adherence to policies and standards; and lead service improvements that enhance safety, efficiency and patient experience. You’ll work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing and allied health colleagues to ensure patients are well prepared, risk factors are addressed and communication is clear at every step.

About you

You’re a skilled, passionate and innovative Registered Nurse with strong leadership capability and a genuine interest in perioperative care. You bring:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an acute care setting
  • Strong communication, teamwork and change-management skills
  • Highly developed organisation and time-management abilities
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and person‑centred care
  • Knowledge or background in theatre/perioperative nursing (advantageous but not essential)

These skills and attributes will help you lead the PAC team effectively, with individual orientation supported by the perioperative services Nurse Manager, plus ongoing support from the Nurse Manager, PAC team and broader perioperative service, where education and professional development are encouraged and supported.
