Achieve Something Great
Lead and support the Fairfield Hospital Orthopaedic Unit team, fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate and high-quality patient-centred care. Provide visible clinical and operational leadership within a fast paced orthopaedic environment, working collaboratively with nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes across the perioperative and inpatient journey. Develop and empower staff through coaching, mentoring, professional development and a strong commitment to staff engagement, wellbeing and accountability. Drive quality and safety initiatives within the unit by actively participating in clinical governance, risk management and continuous quality improvement activities that enhance patient care, recovery and experience. Manage the unit’s workforce and resources effectively, balancing clinical, operational and financial priorities to support efficient patient flow, timely access to care, and the delivery of responsive and sustainable orthopaedic services.
Are You the Right Fit?
Experienced and engaging orthopaedic nurse leader with the ability to lead a dynamic team while maintaining a strong focus on safe, high-quality and patient centred care across the surgical and rehabilitative patient journey. Demonstrates excellent communication, active listening and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with nursing, medical, allied health and support service teams to optimise patient outcomes. Committed to continuous quality improvement, clinical governance, patient safety and accreditation standards, using data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and drive evidence-based practice within the orthopaedic setting. Promotes a positive and inclusive workplace culture through effective leadership, coaching and mentoring, supporting staff development, engagement, wellbeing and accountability. Skilled in coordinating patient flow, discharge planning and multidisciplinary care to ensure efficient service delivery, enhanced patient experiences and optimal utilisation of resources within the orthopaedic unit.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
- Describe your experience leading a nursing team and managing an orthopaedic or relevant clinical service to deliver safe, compassionate, quality and culturally responsive patient care.
- Provide an example of how you have effectively managed staff, resources and competing priorities, including communicating with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team and managing conflict or performance issues.
Describe how you have used critical thinking and clinical leadership to manage risks, support evidence-based nursing practice and contribute to work health and safety and quality improvement within a clinical unit.
