About the Opportunity
Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is excited to announce a newly created opportunity for a passionate and experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead the operational oversight of our Emergency Department. This permanent full-time position marks a significant investment in strengthening our leadership team and enhancing the delivery of emergency care services. As the Operational NUM for the Emergency Department, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and refining operational processes, leading a dedicated multidisciplinary team, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. You’ll work closely with executive leadership to drive innovation, optimise resource management, and foster a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement. The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit. The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.
The hospital receives highly diverse presentations in ED as well as having general medical and surgical services and sub-specialty services across the hospital. - Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
- Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
- Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engage with patients/consumers, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure care needs are met while interacting with others in a personable and professional manner and managing conflict and performance issues when required.
- Demonstrated evidence of critical thinking in the management of the unit and the delivery of evidence-based nursing care, along with an understanding of and active participation in risk management, work health and safety, and quality improvement initiatives in the workplace.
