A unique and exciting career opportunity exists for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our 18-bed tertiary Children’s Intensive Care Unit (CICU) as a Nurse Unit Manager Level 1 (NUM1). As part of an evolving model of care, CICU is transitioning from a 7-day service to a 24/7 model, with NUM1s providing leadership across 12-hour shifts covering both days and nights.
Full-time and part-time opportunities are available offering flexibility within a dynamic and supportive environment. In this role, you will coordinate unit activity on a daily basis, working in close collaboration with the NUM2 and Nurse Manager 3 (NM3) Intensive Care.
You will play a pivotal role in patient flow, unit operations and clinical leadership ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while supporting efficient use of resources. Importantly, this role strengthens leadership presence across all hours, supporting a high-functioning and responsive service. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated clinician with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care, leadership and team collaboration.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal and communication skills including problem solving, balancing competing demands and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, enable and manage teams
- Demonstrated relevant clinical nursing experience with postgraduate nursing qualifications in specialty or management, or working towards same.
- Understanding of the complexities of the paediatric tertiary referral environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services.
- High level computer literacy.
