About the Role

Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Service is committed to improving mental health for people and our communities by providing quality mental health services in partnership with consumers, families and service providers by providing quality healthcare, delivery of safe appropriate care, ensuring access to services, supporting our workforce, and working closely with the local community to manage the changing demand for services.

The Nursing Unit Manager role is responsible for the operational management and leadership of nursing/ staff to ensure the provision of high quality patient and family centred care and nursing and or midwifery excellence at unit/ward level.

The Nursing Unit Manager Level 3 responsibilities in relation to patient services, ward or unit management and staff management are in excess of those of a Nursing Unit Manager Level 2.

The Burudyara Concord Forensic Mental Health Unit is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility being established as part of the NSW Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program. Located on the grounds of the Concord Centre for Mental Health, the Unit will provide 18 medium secure and 24 low secure forensic mental health beds, significantly expanding access to specialised care.

As part of a broader network of services delivered by Sydney Local Health District, Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, and other partners, the Unit plays a critical role in strengthening the State’s forensic mental health capacity. With operations set to commence from February 2026, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to the development of a landmark service from its inception and shape the future of forensic mental health care in NSW.
