Nurse Educator – Leadership and Excellence

As our Nurse Educator for Leadership and Excellence, you will partner across the John Hunter Hospital network - engaging stakeholders from Service Managers to Ward Clerks - to uphold our unwavering commitment to exceptional patient care. In this pivotal role, you will design, implement and evaluate a suite of educational curriculum and programs that serve both the local hospital and the broader district.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Architect: Develop, roll out and refine comprehensive learning pathways for all staff - from new graduates and postgraduate students to undergraduate nursing placements and new employees.
  • Educational Champion: Offer expert leadership, mentorship and support to our team of Clinical Nurse Educators, fostering continuous professional growth.
  • Academic Collaborator: Partner with tertiary institutions and specialty Nurse Educators to co-create, launch and assess postgraduate nursing courses.
  • Strategic Planner: Lead the planning and deployment of targeted educational strategies for the Ward/Unit/Service nursing workforce, ensuring alignment with district‑wide excellence standards.
  • Ongoing Support & Development: Benefit from direct backing by the John Hunter Hospital Executive Team, with tailored professional development and a structured job-share handover to set you up for success.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Hold or be eligible for current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Post-registration nursing/midwifery clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer.
