Hunter New England Imaging (Greater Metropolitan Sector) is offering a number of New Graduate Radiographer positions for 2026 located at Maitland, Calvary Mater Newcastle, Belmont and John Hunter Hospitals. These positions are temporary full-time for a period of 12 months graded as Radiographer Level 2.

About the role:

New Graduate Radiographers will be working within Hunter New England Imaging providing high quality Diagnostic Medical Imaging service in accordance with National registration, professional practices, standards and policies of the Imaging Department specific to Hunter New England Local Health District.

The New Graduate Radiographer will be working as part of a shift roster, providing general imaging services which includes modalities such intra-operative fluoroscopy, mobile x-ray, and fixed fluoroscopy. CT training will vary according to the requirements at each site.

New Graduate Radiographers who are based at Maitland will also participate in the role of Upper Hunter Relief Radiographer. This may require the Radiographer to reside adjacent to an Upper Hunter Hospital site for periods of time to provide leave relief and on-call services.

Hunter New England Imaging are looking for motivated and caring individuals who are looking to develop their skills and knowledge during their new graduate year.

The successful candidate will be supported by Senior Radiographers, Assistant Chief Radiographers, and Chief Radiographers at each site.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for degree in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent prior to commencement of role
  • Eligible for registration with Australian Health Professionals Registration Authority (AHPRA)
  • Eligibility to hold/current NSW EPA Radiation licence
  • Current NSW Drivers licence
  • Participate in the Rosters, overtime and on-call duties as required by the site, and which may change from time to time
  • Able to reside adjacent to Upper Hunter New England Imaging sites when required (applicable to Maitland New Graduate Radiographers only).

Additional Information:

  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa. 
  • An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part time vacancies.
