Achieve Something Great
The Mental Health NDIS Clinical Coordinator plays a pivotal leadership role within South Western Sydney Local Health District, guiding staff and services in supporting consumers with psychosocial disability to access high quality, timely NDIS supports. This senior position is responsible for strengthening clinical capability across the Mental Health Service by providing expert consultation, education, and advice on the evolving NDIS landscape.

As the key liaison point between the Mental Health Service and the NDIS system, the Coordinator ensures staff are informed, confident, and supported to engage effectively with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, navigate NDIS processes, and resolve barriers that impact consumer flow—particularly those affecting discharge or funded support access. The role also provides leadership and oversight to the NDIS Mental Health Officer and drives the development and monitoring of systems, processes, and pathways that enhance the overall consumer experience. This is an exciting opportunity to shape best practice and improve outcomes for people living with psychosocial disability across the District.

Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced and senior mental health clinician with a deep understanding of both the NDIS and public mental health service systems. You bring strong clinical judgement, advanced problem solving skills, and the ability to navigate complex service interfaces with confidence. You are an effective communicator who can translate complex NDIS requirements into practical guidance for frontline staff, while fostering strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

You thrive in roles that require strategic thinking, service coordination, and collaborative leadership. You are comfortable driving change, supporting staff through new processes, and escalating systemic barriers when needed. Above all, you are passionate about improving outcomes for people with psychosocial disability and ensuring they receive the supports they need to live safely, independently, and with dignity.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

1. Relevant qualifications as an Occupational Therapy and currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or qualified Social Worker eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
2. Describe a time when you led or significantly contributed to improving NDIS navigation processes or interagency collaboration within a mental health or disability service. What challenges did you identify, what actions did you take, and what were the outcomes for consumers or the service?
3. Provide an example of when you identified NDIS related barriers impacting a consumer’s care, safety, or discharge from a mental health unit. How did you assess the clinical risks, support staff, and escalate concerns to agencies such as the NDIA or relevant stakeholders?
4. Tell us about a capacity building or quality improvement initiative you have led that strengthened staff understanding of the NDIS or improved service delivery for consumers with psychosocial disability. What role did you play, and how did you measure success?
5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
