Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery. Population health promotes programs and initiates capacity building to members of priority populations on priority issues.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Mental Wellbeing Health Promotion Officer to join our team and help drive meaningful, community focused initiatives that strengthen mental health literacy across our region. This role is an opportunity for someone who thrives on engaging with local communities, building collaborative partnerships and designing evidence-based programs that make a genuine difference in people’s lives.

In this position, you will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental wellbeing projects that support the mental health of diverse communities, reduce health inequities and promote mentally healthy environments. You will work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders and community organisations to develop programs that are culturally responsive, collaborative and effective in reducing stigma and improving community awareness.

The ideal candidate is someone who communicates with confidence, builds strong relationships and has a commitment to empowering communities through education, capacity building and advocacy. You will bring knowledge of health promotion principles, an understanding of mental health across the lifespan and a passion for working collaboratively within multidisciplinary settings. Your ability to think creatively, manage competing priorities and adapt your approach will help ensure the success of our initiatives.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as health promotion, population health, mental health, drug and alcohol services or education.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience of health promotion theory and evidence-based application including needs analysis, project planning, implementation and evaluating health promotion initiatives, particularly relating to relevant mental wellbeing issues.
  3. Demonstrated ability to write high level and quality reports and other written communication for a variety of audiences as well as high-level computer literacy.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community, government and non-government organisations to achieve outcomes in health promotion.
  5. Demonstrated ability and experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based community education projects and initiatives.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team across multiple projects with the ability to apply effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  7. Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  8. Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
